drinks.digitaLeeds May : SPONSORED!

That’s right, hot on the heals of the April event, the drinks.digitaLeeds May event is also being sponsored! What that means for you is that a selection of your drinks on the evening will be paid for by our wonderful sponsors.

Who are these mysterious and wonderful benefactors I hear you ask? Well, the May event is being brought to you by Sleek Networks and InterQuest Group - partners not only to digitaLeeds, but also myself at twentysix.

LSDFestivaaaarl darling… Here we go again!

With Leeds Digital Festival 2012 over half a year behind us, it’s almost that time of the year again… Where the more social and less inhibited and more organised and less apathetic of the Leeds digital community come together to argue about the direction of the years Leeds Digital Festival.

Should you want to get involved in the shaping of Leeds Digital Festival 2013, head on over to http://ldf2013kickoff.eventbrite.com/ and grab yourself a registration.

My only hope right now is that 2 months isn’t spent devising a new visual identity for the festival. Again.

BIG DATA week.

That’s right folks, it’s Big Data week here in Leeds… And for something so gargantuan in size (it’s BIG), the fanfare has been appropriately the opposite in size of the data that’s going to be smashed around from tomorrow at a number of venues across the city (that is to say SMALL). This DATA has obviously never heard of marketing before.

Anyway, the events?

  1. There’s a launch night on Tuesday evening 23rd at 6pm at the SkyLounge, Hilton… BIG DATA and cocktails? Yes please! http://buff.ly/15fC8Ns
  2. Wednesday 24th at The Cross keys at 7pm is a “Bring Your Own Data” – a workshop to learn how we all use data in social media… BIG DATA and Leeds Pale? Yes please! http://buff.ly/17dmQoH
  3. Thursday they’re looking for anyone working in data to actively blog how they use it and this will then be promoted through Big Data Week… BIG DATA while sat at home in your pants writing about BIG DATA? Yes please! http://bigdataweek.com/2013/03/20/data-in-a-day/
  4. And this then culminates in the weekend event – The Global Data Challenge, using data to present “How Healthy is Your City… BIG DATA at The Health and Social Care Information Centre surrounded by pamphlets on STIs and Domestic Abuse? Yes please! http://www.leedsdatathing.co.uk/event/big-data-challenge-how-healthy-is-your-city-leeds/

So, it’s fair to say that if you love your BIG DATA there is a week ahead of you in which you’ll likely hardly be able to fit anything else in except for your BIG DATA! Rock on you BIG DATA nerds you!

Hello Leeds!

2 months in and we’ve eventually pointed the domain name at something. Even if it us just a Wordpress blog. As you could all likely have guessed, digitaLeeds is going to be somewhat of an evolution, rather than a big bang… so while we have nothing to see or show right now, don’t expect it to stay that way forever.

While you’re being unimpressed at the speed of action, why don’t you roll on over to EventBrite and register yourself for the next drinks.digitaLeeds?
